John Martin

Leonville Funeral services for Mr. John Terry Martin, age 71, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012, with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial in St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the St. Leo Mausoleum.
Father Mike Champagne will celebrate the Mass.
Mr. Martin was a native of Opelousas and longtime resident of Leonville. He died on Saturday, December 31, 2011, at Opelousas General Health System.
Mr. Martin enjoyed spending time visiting with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband for 52 years to his wife Judith, and a wonderful father, grandfather and brother. He enjoyed sports and was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent a lot of time at the camp on Big Alabama. Mr. Martin loved to created things from wood in his woodshop he also loved to travel with his wife and friends. Mr. Martin is going to be missed by his family and many friends.
Survivors include wife, Judith Lalonde Martin of Leonville sons, Michael and wife JoAnn Martin of Leonville, David and wife Kim Martin of Plano, TX daughters, Jamie and husband Johnny Miller of Opelousas, Angela and husband Darrell Gay of Montgomery,TX., Julie and husband Randy Armand of Opelousas, Cindy Zeringue and fianc Tony Steed of Lafayette brother, Dale Martin and wife Jeanette of Washington thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by parents, Howard and Verna Fusillier Martin and one great grandchild, Chloe Martin and sister, Judy Martin.
Visiting hours will be observed at St. Leo the Great Church, one hour before the Mass begins. 1:00 p.m.2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made the St. Jude Children Hospital in remembrance of John Terry Martin.
