Opelousas- A Funeral Service will be held for John LaBauve on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Pastor Grant Chustz will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the First Pentecostal Cemetery in Melville. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas.
John LaBauve, born on September 1, 1960, in Church Point, Louisiana, passed away on March 11, 2025, Melville, Louisiana. He lived a life characterized by service, passion, and a deep connection to his roots.
John was proud to have served in the National Guard, embodying the spirit of dedication and commitment that defined his character. His military service was a testament to his willingness to serve his community and country, reflecting a life of honor and responsibility.
In addition to his military contributions, John was a man of many interests. He found joy in fishing, relishing the serenity of nature and the thrill of the catch. His love for farming reflected his appreciation for the land and a strong connection to his heritage. As a truck driver, he embraced the open road, creating stories and memories throughout his travels. Music accompanied him in all these endeavors, with a particular fondness for French music that spoke to his heart and soul.
John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Faye Ansley LaBauve of Melville; sons, John LaBauve and his wife Diana of Deer Park, TX, and Russell LaBauve and his wife Beka of Buxton, Maine; daughters, Jessica Bailey and husband James of Fredricksburg, Virginia, and Heather Baggett of Melville; sister, Kathy Logue of Lake Charles; and 14 grandchildren
John is preceded in death by his parents, Ceasar & Mae LaBauve; brothers, Russell LaBauve, Hubert LaBauve, and Herbert LaBauve; and sisters, Bonnie Marcantel and Rachel Mogged.
