John Fontenot

Opelousas A Memorial Services for John Alden Fontenot will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014, in the Sibille Funeral Home. Rev. Benny Reppond will officiate the service. He passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 80.
John was a native of Washington, and was a resident of Opelousas for the last 43 years. He was a retired Veteran of the Air Force who proudly served his country for 20 years, including the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He loved to hunt and fish above all. He will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.


Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Flo Fontenot of Opelousas, son, Timothy Fontenot and wife Faye of Port Barre, daughters, Cyndi Fontenot of Cordova, TN., and Jan Steiner and her husband, Richard of Santa Rosa, CA., sister, Ethel Fontenot Owen of San Antonio, TX grandchildren, John Pierre Cregan, Nannette Kim Hawk, Bethany Burton Hall, Jenna Leigh Toombs, Jamie Lynn Fontenot, Perrin Gates Noble and Taylor Saree Noble, and eleven greatgrandchildren.

A gathering will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel, on Saturday, September 13, 2014 beginning at 12:00 p.m. until time of service.
