John Soileau

LEONVILLE- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for John Donald “Deedy” Soileau on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in the St. Leo Catholic Church of Leonville. Fr. Darren Eldridge will celebrate the mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Leo Cemetery.

Deedy, age 65, a resident of Leonville, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, BBQ pit masters and cooking shows. He also enjoyed sharing a good meal, especially boiled crawfish with his family.

He is survived by his sisters, Maria Jerilyn “Jerri” Marks and her husband, Joey of Arnaudville, Deborah Latiolais and husband, Carl, of Denver, NC, Chantel Lafleur and husband, Ricky of Leonville, and Carol Mason and her husband, Scott Miller of Opelousas; nephews, Christopher Mallet, Seth Marks, Nicholas Mason; and great nephews, Jacob and Alex Mallet.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Ray Soileau and Joyce Lanclos Soileau; paternal grandparents, Hillary Soileau and Ethal Soileau; maternal grandparents, Leonce Lanclos and Adeline Lanclos.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m. by Fr. Darren Eldridge.
