Leonville A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014, in St. Leo the Great Catholic Church of Leonville for Mr. John Allen Campbell, age 77, who passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home in Arnaudville. Reverend Father Kenneth Domingue will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the St. Leo Cemetery Mausoleum.
Mr. John was a native of Opelousas and a longtime resident of Arnaudville. He spent many years working as a brick layer. He was a U. S. Army veteran who proudly served his country. He was also a member of the Arnaudville VFW Post 5153.
Survivors include his two sons, John Wayne Campbell of Arnaudville and David Dwayne Campbell and wife, Rhonda of Arnaudville one brother, Bobby Campbell of Metairie and one sister, Barbara Hardy of Arnaudville. He is also survived by two grandsons, Justin Campbell and wife, Jennifer of Carencro and David D.J. Campbell and wife, Lana of Opelousas one granddaughter, Summer Marceaux and husband, C. J. of Kaplan and two greatgrandchildren, Payton Campbell and Landon Campbell, both of Opelousas.
Mr. John was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Campbell his parents, Martin Campbell, Sr. and Angelique Campbell and his siblings, Cressly Campbell, Ivy Campbell, Ivy Lou Campbell Stelly, Daniel Campbell, and Martin Campbell, Jr.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, January 3, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. On Saturday, the Funeral Home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home.
