Opelousas-A Rosary will be prayed for John Michael Brooks, at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024 by Tracy Broussard followed by a Eulogy and Psalm Passage by Wayne Wilson in the Sibille Funeral Service to follow after in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
John Michael Brooks, a beloved member of the Prairie Ronde community, passed away on July 7, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and love. Born on October 10, 1949, John was known for his warm personally that touched the lives of many. In his early career he worked as a first mate on an ocean - going supply boat. He retired after 22 years at Sam's Club in Lafayette La.
Throughout his life, John was described as a loving and caring person who always put others ahead of himself. His kind nature and compassionate spirit resonated with all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
John Michael Brooks is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Goode Brooks, and their son James Marcus Brooks. He is also survived by his brothers James David Brooks (Mae) of Opelousas, Timothy S. Brooks of Washington, and sister Martha Evelyn Moran of Kinder.
In remembrance of John, we mourn the loss of his parents Elmer Wheeler Brooks and Hazel Marie Soileau Brooks, as well as his sister Patricia Ann Brooks Wilson. John will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews Wayne Wilson, Kristy Wilson, Nick Wilson, Tracy Broussard, Danielle Defelice, and Leland Moran.
John's impact on those around him will forever be cherished, and his memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have shared in his life's journey. May he rest in peace knowing that he was loved and respected by all.
