John Larry Larry Bergeron

Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. John Larry Bergeron, known to many as Larry, age 65, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Chapel in Prairie Ronde. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Prairie Ronde.

Father Daniel Picard will officiate the Mass.

Mr. Larry was a long-time resident of Opelousas. He died on Friday, April 17, 2009, at Doctors Hospital in Opelousas. He was a truck driver for many years. He was also a U. S. Navy Veteran who served his country proudly. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be sadly missed by all.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Mrs. Mary Sidonia Lavergne Bergeron of Prairie Ronde; four sons: John Daryl Bergeron and wife, Gwen of Port Barre; Joseph Gerald Bergeron and wife, Emily of Prairie Ronde; Larry Dale Bergeron of Many; and Michael Gary Bergeron and wife, Gwenda of Pensacola, FL; one daughter, Shielda Jane Bergeron of Prairie Ronde; two brothers: James Bergeron of Opelousas; and Wayne Bergeron and wife, Jennifer of Opelousas; one sister, Shirley Mae Leger and husband, Leonce of Opelousas; 12 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, 6 great-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: J. A. Bill Bergeron and Enola Theriot Bergeron; and his father-in-law, Lonnie Bobby Lavergne; and mother-in-law, Lorena Castille Doucet.

Visiting hours will be observed on Monday, April 20, 2009, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas from 12:00 p.m. with an all night wake until the time of services on Tuesday.

A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home.
