John Begnaud

OpelousasA Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. John C. Begnaud will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2014, in St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell, LA. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Bridget Cemetery with Rev. Msgr. Jefferson DeBlanc, Jr. as the celebrant.
Mr. John was a native of Bristol and a lifelong resident of Opelousas. He died on Sunday, December 14, 2014, at his residence surrounded by family at the age of 78. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran who proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was retired after working as an insurance agent for many years. He raised cattle most of his life and enjoyed working in his shop as a pastime. He was a devoted husband of 56 years, and a loving father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him
Survivors include his wife, Wilda Bourgeois Begnaud of Opelousas his son, Dwayne Begnaud of San Antonio, TX his daughter, Deborah Fruge and husband, Glenn of San Antonio, TX four grandchildren, Alex Fruge of Norfolk, VA Ross Fruge of Pensacola, FL Cole Begnaud of San Antonio, TX and Ashley Begnaud of Columbus, GA special sisterinlaw, Bonnie Venable of Lawtell and brotherinlaw and sisterinlaw, Aubrey Bourgeois and wife, Kathleen of Naples, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Steffon Begnaud and Emma Smith Begnaud and one brotherinlaw, John Joffery Venable.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Begnaud, Glenn Fruge, Ross Fruge, and Cole Begnaud.
Special thanks to the staff of Heart of Hospice, M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Frank Bacque, Dr. Jason Shumadine, Dr. Sumit Subudhi, and Dr. Chancellor Donald for their wonderful care which was given to Mr. John.
Visiting hours will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. On Thursday, the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
