John Stelly

Port Barre– A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for John Anthony Stelly on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 12:00 noon in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass. Readers will be Bobby and Lane Duplechain, gift bearers will be Mark Duplechain and Johnny Ramirez. A Private Inurnment will take place at a later date in the church cemetery.

It is with heavy and sad hearts that we announce the passing of, John Anthony Stelly, age 58, he entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at his mother’s home surrounded by his loving family.

In his younger days John was very athletic and health focused. He was a great boxer and won several championship matches, he even had a streak where he went undefeated. John loved running and competing in track meets, he won various district races. He enjoyed spoiling his nephews Tommy, Bobby, Mark and Lane. John loved spending time and making memories with his loyal companion, his dog Shadow. John will be greatly missed and never forgotten by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

John is survived by his mother, Betty Stelly; sisters, Vickie Duplechain and husband, Bob, Hope Ramirez and husband, Johnny; nephews, Tommy Duplechain and wife, Julie, Bobby Duplechain and son, Lane, Mark Duplechain and wife, Mallory.

John is preceded in death by his father, Floyd Stelly; sisters, Suzanne and Faith Stelly; twin brother, James Stelly; paternal grandparents, Clifton and Emma Stelly; maternal grandparents, Sulie and Odette Fontenot.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. The rosary will be recited at 11:00 a.m. by Myra Duplechain. The eulogy will be given by Tommy Duplechain following the rosary.

Pallbearer will be John’s godson, Tommy Duplechain.
