Port Barre Funeral services for Mr. Joe Ed LeBlanc will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. Father Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.
Joe Ed LeBlanc, a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather, and role model who touched the lives of everyone he met, left this world to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at the age of 68. Born and raised in Port Barre, he made his home in Blanks. For the past 50 years, he had a passion for farming and a lifetime obsession for fishing. He enjoyed life and family and will be dearly missed, yet greatly remembered and loved forever.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, June Nezat LeBlanc of Lottie daughter, Stephanie Glaser and husband, Keith of Torbert, LA son, Troy LeBlanc and wife, Shannon of Port Allen daughter, Michelle Jewell and husband, Chip of Ventress eight grandchildren: Haley Jewell, Caleb LeBlanc, Victoria Glaser, Lucas Glaser, Heather Jewell, Katelyn Millet, Emily LeBlanc and Hunter Jewell sister, Johnnie Dupuis and husband, Ernie of Port Barre brother, Phillip Butch LeBlanc and wife, Glenda of Port Barre brotherinlaw, Paul Saizan of Port Barre and special parents, Buddy and Clementine Bergeron of Livonia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine Guillory LeBlanc three sisters, Neva LeBlanc, Bertha Taylor, and Ruth Saizan.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Pointe Coupee Sheriffs Department and the Livonia Fire Department.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home, 402 N. Saizan Avenue, Port Barre on Saturday, September 3, 2011, from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
