Port Barre Funeral services for Mrs. Jesslyn Arnaud Richard, age 86, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, with a service at First Baptist Church in Port Barre. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington ,La. Rev. Benj Richard, Pastor of First Baptist Church and grandson will conduct the service.

Mrs. Jesslyn, wife of Leo Richard, Sr. for 72 years passed away peacefully surrounded by her Family on February 25, 2012, at Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas, La.

She was born in Port Barre and lived her whole life in the area raising her family and spending time with her many friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister to her brother Mayo and sister Billie, and friend to all. Ms. Jesslyn enjoyed sewing, camping, baking especially bread and helping others when they were in need. She loved going to Church with her family and friends. She is going to be missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Leo Richard, Sr. of Port Barre sons, Donald Richard and wife Ella of Port Barre, Tony Richard of Shreveport, La., Leo Richard, Jr. of Port Barre daughters, Betty Scott and husband Jimmy of Picayune, Miss. and Audrey Blaisdell and husband Kim of Paducah, Ky. brother, Myo Arnaud and wife Lorena of Port Barre sister, Billie Sweeney of Opelousas thirty grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

Jesslyn is preceded in death by her parents, Phocles and Eva Guillory Arnaud sons, Tommy and Harold Richard grandson, Harold Richard, Jr. sister, Evelyn Williamson brothers, Murphy Arnaud and Paul Peck Elliot Arnaud.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012, from 2 pm to 10 pm in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. On Tuesday, visitation will continue from 8 am until 1:30 pm in the funeral home.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Gillispie and all the caretakers who helped the family during Ms. Jesslyns illness.
