Jeannette Young

Opelousas Funeral services for Mrs. Jeannette Matt Young, age 91, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2011, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Richard, LA. Rev. Perry Hubbs will officiate the services.
Mrs. Young was a native of Eunice, LA, was a longtime resident of Opelousas, and was currently residing in Humble, Texas. She passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2011, at 5:00 a.m. at Kingwood Medical Center in Kingwood, TX. She was born on March 8, 1920, in Eunice, LA, to the late Angelas and Celise Blanchard Matt.
Ms. Young was known as Grandma to her grandchildren and Gigi to her greatgrandchildren who will fondly be remembered for her beautiful smile, sense of humor, and quick wit. She was a homemaker and a wonderful cook. Jeannette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother who loved being with her family. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Loraine Chapter 48 and a past Worthy Matron.
Survivors include four daughters, Judith Young Marks of Opelousas Lorraine Young Williams and husband, Jim of Humble, TX Mary Beth Young Bullara and husband, Vincent of Opelousas and Jeannie Young Dupre and husband, Mike of Carencro one brother, Fr. Joseph Wilson Matt of New Iberia. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Margaret Marks, Sean Bernard Patrick Bernard Jay Bernard a special grandson, Vinnie Bullara and wife, Cammie Rachael Dupre, and Jennifer Dupre her greatgrandchildren: Tucker James Bullara, Brock Ellis Bullara, Presley Elizabeth Bullara, and Oscar Miguel Bernard and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Young an infant daughter, Dorothy Jeannette Young her parents, Angelas Matt and Celise Blanchard Matt brother, Cleveland Charles Matt and sisters, Eunice Matt Quirk, Bernice Matt, and Beatrice Matt Gonsoulin.
The family would like to express a special word of appreciation and love to Jim and Lorraine who so lovingly cared for Mama in her last days.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Saturday, November 26, 2011, from 11 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
