Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas for Mrs. Jeanne Menard Richard, age 82. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas with Father James Brady Celebrant.
Mrs. Jeanne was born in Coulee Croche, LA, and was a resident of Carencro for eight years. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette. She was a great mother, and a wonderful wife, grandmother, and greatgrandmother. She was a homemaker and a wonderful cook for her family and friends. She was a very religious person with a strong Catholic faith and also a member of St. Landry Catholic Church. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by four sons, Kenneth Richard and wife, Melissa of Carencro Douglas Richard and wife, Karen of Prairie Ronde Johnny Richard and wife, Lavon of Scott and Wally Richard and wife, Jamie of Opelousas seven daughters, Priscilla Comeaux and husband, Verman of Duson Mary Sue Cormier and husband, J. B. of Carencro Helen Matte and husband, Paul of Church Point Jackie LeJeune and husband, James of San Ramon, CA Martha Duhon and husband, Darrell of Scott Della Hidalgo and husband, Ludrick of Denham Springs and Christine Richard Broussard of Lafayette 23 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, and 16 greatgrandchildren, one sister, Agnes Tata Bourque of Carencro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis J. Richard her parents, Amilicar Menard and Grazilla Brasseaux Menard five grandchildren, Tony Cormier, Joshua Duhon, Elizabeth Duhon, Stephanie Richard, and April Richard 6 brothers and 5 sisters.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012, from 4 pm to 10 pm in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Tuesday, visitation will continue from 8 am until 1:00 pm in the funeral home. A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 pm on Monday evening in the funeral home.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Evangeline Oaks Nursing Home of Carencro for their wonderful and loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Mrs. Jeanne to the Alzheimers Association.
