Jeanette Kidder

Port Barre– A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Jeanette Kidder on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Daniel Picard will celebrate the mass. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, from 12:00 noon (open all night) until Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre; the rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday by Deacon Mitch Hebert.

Jeanette, age 75, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Senior Village Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

Jeanette was a dedicated member of the altar society and a communion minister at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed serving up a home cooked meal and spending time with her family. She also loved being outdoors, gardening and tending to her flowers. Jeanette enjoyed curling up with a good book and dancing to her favorite music. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and all who knew and loved her.

Jeanette is survived by her husband of 56 years, Leon James Kidder of Port Barre; daughters, Courtney E. Kidder and Danielle A. Kidder both of Opelousas; brothers, John Allen Martin (Elaine), Elgie Sonny Martin (Delores), Joseph Raymond Martin all of Port Barre, and Robert James Martin (Faye) of Opelousas; Godchildren, Tonia Martin, Pam Stelly Castille, Melissa Martin Kysar, Mildred “Millie” Guidroz Leblanc and Tiffany Martin Boudreaux; in-laws, Judy Martin, Patrick Neil Kidder (Melissa), Leonard Kidder, Loretta Marks (Harold) Linda Cortez (Darrell) Elizabeth Phillips (Lowell); special cousin, Patsy Martin Guidroz; close family, Clara Belle Domingue Martin and Ruth Noel; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Alger Martin, Jr. and Sylvia Faul Martin; sister, Geraldine Stelly (Louis); brother, Joseph Murphy Martin; special cousins, Edward James “Big Ed” Martin and Gervis Guidroz; mother-in-law, Beatrice Noel Kidder; father-in-law, Leon Kidder; and sister-in-law, Ronnie Kidder.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Martin, Robert Martin, John Allen Martin, Leonard Kidder, Howard Martin, Michael Daniels and Patrick Kidder.
