Janell Red Doucet
Port Barre Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Janell Young Doucet, known to everyone as Red, age 56, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2010, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Father Curtis Mallet will celebrate the Mass.
Red was a native of Hollow Springs, Mississippi, and was a longtime resident of Port Barre. She died on Thursday, January 7, 2010, at Opelousas General Health System.
She enjoyed spending time visiting with her family and friends. During her spare time, she loved cooking for her family and baking with her granddaughters. She was a homemaker and took care of her family. She was a wonderful and loving wife, and a devoted mother, sister, aunt, friend, and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Mr. John Weston Doucet of Port Barre two sons: Jesse Doucet and wife, Kim of Port Barre and Gable Doucet of Port Barre two brothers: Jesse Lawrence Young of Texas and Waylon Young four sisters: Betty Thomlinson of Arkansas Kay Cox of Tennessee Irene Scruggs of Mississippi and Becky Finley of Texas foster father, Francis Bergeron of Texas two foster brothers: Clifford Bergeron of Port Barre and Clayton Bergeron and wife, Holly of Texas foster sister, Altana Bergeron of Texas and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Jesse Bottom Young and Nellie Mae Moore Young and her foster mother, Mary Bergeron.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Sunday, January 10, 2010, from 10 a.m. with an all night wake until the time of services on Monday.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
