James Wheaton Jr

Port Barre - A Mass of Christian Burial for will be held for James Wheaton Jr. at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2021, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Visitation will be held at Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre at 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 1:30 p.m. Fr. Clint Trahan will officiate the Mass.  Rite of Committal will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Port Barre.

James, age 59, a resident of Port Barre, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. He will be missed by all his family and friends.

James is survived by his children, James Andrew Wheaton (Julie) of Washington, Desiree Wheaton Dean (Micah) of Port Barre, and Tracie L Wheaton (James Gonzales) of Torbert; grandchildren, Cohen, Luci, Jack, Rex Dean, Lucas Doucet, Anthony Gonzales; Step Grandchildren, Matthew Mills and Wyatt Gonzales; sisters, Billy Jo Muller (Stanley) of Grand Coteau, Rebecca “Becky” Hardy (Sammy) of Port Barre, Brigitte Wyble (Mike) of Washington and Donna Meaux of Rayne and his beloved dog Tiger Bill.

James was a lifelong resident of St. Landry Parish where he worked faithfully in the fields as a Farmer, retiring after 35 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James “Bill” and Verval Wheaton.
