James Danny Ortego
Grand Coteau Funeral services for Mr. James Danny Ortego, 54, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2007, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the St. Charles Cemetery in Grand Coteau.
Mr. Ortego was born in Fulda, Germany and was a long-time resident of Sunset. He died at 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at his residence. He was a yard supervisor for Doug Ashy Lumber Company. He was also a U. S. Army Veteran who served his country for 4 years. As a pastime, he enjoyed playing drums. He also loved spending time with family and friends. He was a student at U. L. Lafayette studying computers. He was a wonderful son, devoted father and brother. He was a friend to all who loved and knew him. He will be sadly missed by all.
Survivors include one son, James D. Ortego of Buford, GA; his mother, Mildred Smith Ortego of Opelousas; one sister, Janet Burns of Sunset; niece, Katie Burns; and great nephew, Cain Michael Savoie.
Mr. Ortego was preceded in death by one son, Danny Ortego; his father, John D. Ortego; and brother-in-law, Ricky Burns.
Visiting hours will be observed from 3 p.m.-10 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2007, in the Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau. On Friday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m.-time of services in the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at time p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home.
