OPELOUSAS Funeral services for Mr. James Nolan Devillier, age 75, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2013, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park. Rev. Benji Richard will officiate the services.
Mr. Devillier was a native of Port Barre area and a resident of Opelousas, LA. He passed away at Oschner Medical Center in New Orleans on Thursday, October 10, 2013. He attended First Baptist Church of Port Barre for the past several years.
He was a retired Chief Warrant Officer Four with the U.S. Army. He served his country in the Army, National Guard, and the Army Reserves from 1956 until 1995. He was also the Administrator for the Army Reserve facility in Lafayette. He was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of the Indian Hills Country Club of Opelousas.
Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Sue Traylor Devillier of Opelousas one son, Chad James Devillier and wife, Diane Kay Devillier of McAllen, TX one daughter, Tara Marie Devillier of Lafayette two stepdaughters, Jenny Beth Blair of Zachary and Judy Layne Williams of Baton Rouge one grandson, Trey Nolan Devillier nine step grandchildren, April Williams, Michael Christopher Williams, Kyle Anthony Williams, Abbey Williams, Jacob Williams, Elizabeth Benzer, Rebecca Blair, Justen Harris, and Morgen Duplechain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Bervick Devillier and Louella Doucet Devillier one brother, Justin Percy Devillier and one sister, Ethelyn Devillier Guillory.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Guillory, Johnny Doucet, Kevin Doucet, Charlie Taylor, Jacob Williams, and Chad Devillier. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Doucet, Jimmy Kennison, Daniel Hrachovy, and George Soileau.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Saturday, October 12, 2013, from 5 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Sunday, visitation will continue from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations can be made to the charity of your choice or to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital.
