James Meche

A Funeral Service for James Meche will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Fr. Ken Dominque will conduct the mass.

James, age 68, a resident of Cankton, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

James was an avid outdoorsman, if you couldn’t find him, he was either in the woods or on a boat fishing for that perfect catch. His love for nature was strong and he made sure to spend every available moment in it.

James is survived by his wife Alice C. Meche; son, James Meche Jr. (Michelle) of Lafayette; daughters, Juanita M. Meche (Kevin Darbonne) of Euless Texas and Amy Meche of Mire; brothers, Edward J. Meche (Rosemary) of Waller Texas, Michael A. Meche (Helen) of Scottland and Steven C. Meche (Verlene) of Henderson; sisters, Eula M. Meche Striffler of Arkansas, Christine Meche Hutchinson of Arkansas, Louise Via (John) of Quitman Arkansas and Melanie Yates of Arkansas; 3 grandchildren, Chloe Meche of Trinidad Texas, Alexander K. Tessmar of Romulus Michigan and Zachary K. Tessmar of Euless Texas; Nephew and his fishing buddy Stephan Meche.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Cyprien and Juanita Hollier Meche.

The family requested that visitation be on Monday, September 20, 2021, from 10:00 am till time of service on Monday.
