Opelousas -A Mass of Christian Burial for James Raphael Lanclos will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2015, in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Fth Gary Schexnayder will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Music will be provided by Valarie Andrus
James, a resident of Opelousas, passed away peacefully at Senior Village Nursing Home on March 6, 2015, at the age of 76. James retired from the Opelousas Fire Department after serving for 34 years. He served as the Assistant Fire Chief for several years and was honored by having a fire truck named after him; James "Big Bopper." James also served in the La. National Guard and as a volunteer fireman. James owned Quarter Horses for many years and served as President and Past President of the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeder Association. James loved to play cards with his family and friends but will be known to many as a wonderful husband, loving father and grandfather and a special friend to all that knew him. He is going to be missed by all.

James is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Anita Labbe' Lanclos of Opelousas. daughters, Karen Hessler and husband Richard of Opelousas, Carla Deavers and husband Michael of Houston, TX, Lisa Miller and husband Andre' of Eunice; brother, Raymond Lanclos of Opelousas; sister, Delores Castille of Opelousas and seven grandchildren who lovingly called him "Baina."

James was preceded in death by his parents, Alexson and Pearly Colligan Lanclos and sister Mary Lee Bergeron.

The family requests that visitation be held at Sibille Funeral home on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and the Funeral Home reopen on Monday at 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A Rosary Service will be held on Sunday Night at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Dwayne Joubert.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Opelousas Catholic School Foundation.
