James Herbert

OpelousasA Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA, for Mr. James Adam Herbert. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. The Reverend Father Jim Brady will be the celebrant of the Funeral Mass.
Mr. James was a native of Baltimore, and a long time resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012, at Lafayette General Health System at the age of 72.
He proudly served his country while in the U.S. Army. He was Director of Nursing Service at Opelousas General Health System for many years until his retirement.
Survivors include his brothers William B. Herbert of Bay St. Louis, J. Edward Herbert of Baltimore, Maryland, and Philip B. Herbert of Arlington VT, his sisters Mary Elizabeth Carey of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Katherine Herbert Trumps of Annandale, Virginia, and Joan Patricia Anderson of Timonium, Maryland, a special friend, Gwen StCyr.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Adam and Ruth Brooks Herbert, brother, Charles Adam Herbert, sister, Ruth Ann Button.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Saturday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home.
