Port Barre Funeral services for James Ray Gass Leblanc , 37, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Private interment services will be held at a later date.

Father Nicky Trahan will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial.

James was born in Baton Rouge and was currently residing in Port Barre. He died on Sunday, April 24, 2009, at his residence. He was a loving father, son, brother and friend and he is going to be missed by all.

Survivors include his long time companion, Vanessa Moree of Lafayette; parents: Mary Ann Credeur and husband, Joseph of Port Barre; Joseph Treme Leblanc and wife, Adrianne of Opelousas; sons: Nathan Moree and Joshua Moree of Opelousas; daughter, Tara Moree of Opelousas; brothers: Joseph Treme Leblanc, Jr. and wife, Jessica of Port Barre: Michael Paul Leblanc and wife, Nikki of Prairie Ronde; stepbrothers: Curtis Vicknair and wife, Mary; and Chris Vicknair of Opelousas; Cobey Vicknair of Loureauville; and Joseph Credeur II of Port Barre; sisters: Lana Kaye Hook and husband, Troy of Grand Prairie; and Desiree Leblanc and fiance, D.J. Vicknair of Henderson; stepsister, Melanie Hook and husband, Shannon of Opelousas; god-children, Lexi Beblanc and Kalob Leblanc; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be observed on Tuesday April 28, 2009, from 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. On Wednesday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services.

A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home on Tuesday evening.

In Lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to help defray the cost of the funeral expenses.
