Opelousas-A funeral service for James Clayton Fontenot, known to many as "J.C.", will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015, in Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery with Chaplin Patrick Braquet doing the service.
J.C. was a resident of Lawtell. He died on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at his home at the age of 92. He enjoyed raising cattle, spending time with his family, watching western movies, and was a LSU & Saints fan.
Survivors include his children, Carlyon Brinkman and her husband, Robert of Opelousas, Nona Tate of Lawtell, and Jennifer Kennedy of Lawtell, brothers, Goldman Fontenot and his wife, Kitty of Zachary and Warren Fontenot of Lawtell, sisters, Betty Jo Marks of New Iberia, and Norma Fontenot of Lawtell, grandchildren, Dean Duplechain, Charles Patton, Nickolas Patton, Robert Brinkman II, Eric Brickman, Kimbela Arceneaux and Jack Kennedy, nine great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Helena Brasseaux Fontenot, wife, Katherine "Kate" Fontenot, daughters, Mary Patton and Tanna Fontenot, one grandchild, Keith Duplechain, brothers, Donald and Raymond Fontenot.
Visiting hours will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, January 9, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 0:00 p.m. On Saturday, the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
