James Caillouet

OPELOUSAS- Memorial Services for James T. “Bubsy” Caillouet will be on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Deacon Dwayne Joubert will officiate the services.

Bubsy Caillouet, 85, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Ochsner Lafayette General Hospital, surrounded by family.

Bubsy was born in Crowley and graduated from Opelousas High School in 1955. He obtained a degree in Accounting from SLI, now UL at Lafayette, in 1959 and later married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Caillouet. Bubsy worked at American Bank and Opelousas Orthopedic Clinic before retiring.  He enjoyed his regular Tuesdays at the barn and the Elks, hunting, fishing, & supervising at the hunting camp. He loved spending time with his family.

Bubsy is survived by his daughters,  Lisa C. Lariviere, her husband John; Christine C. Thistlethwaite, her husband Scott; Julie Caillouet, her partner Leslie,  Annie C. Bourque, her husband Huey;  Emily C. Batton, her husband Rick; grandchildren: Camille Lariviere, Claire Lariviere, Scott Thistlethwaite, Ross Thistlethwaite, Charlie Thistlethwaite, Jay Bourque, Eric Bourque, Hannah Bourque, Audrey Batton, Olivia Batton, and J.P. Batton; great-grandson, Andrew Bourque, great-granddaughter, Charlotte Bourque, and great-grandson Tripp; His brothers, Nick Caillouet, John Wayne Caillouet,  & Dwight Caillouet, sisters, Marlene Caillouet and Jackie Lafleur, and of course his lap dog, Rosie.

Bubsy was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Caillouet,  parents, James and Edna Caillouet, his brother Don Caillouet and sister Gayle Caillouet.

The visiting hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Wounded Warriors Project.
