Frilot Cove - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. James C. Billeaudeau will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 16, 2015, at St. Anne Mission Chapel in Frilot Cove, LA. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Anne Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Chester Arceneaux as the celebrant.
Mr. Billeaudeau passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at the Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas at the age of 87.
James was a native and long-time resident of Frilot Cove. He entered into the United States Army in 1946 and served in World War II. After returning home, he began a career in education. He worked in the profession as an elementary school principal for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver in his parish.
James is survived by two daughters, Brenda F. Billeaudeau of Lafayette, LA, and Vivian Lorraine Davenport of Atlanta, GA; two sons, James L. Billeaudeau and wife, Sandra, of Lafayette, LA and Jonathan F. Billeaudeau and wife, Paula, also of Lafayette, LA; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of godchildren.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Miralda Jolivette Billeaudeau; his parents, Leonard Billeaudeau and Eleda Auzenne Billeaudeau; four brothers, Cyrus, Charles, Jacques, and Joseph C. Billeaudeau; and two sisters, Ida Mae Fontenot and Lucy Meullion.
Pallbearers will be James L. Billeaudeau, Jonathan F. Billeaudeau, Jonathan F. Billeaudeau, II, Joshua A. Billeaudeau, James C. Billeaudeau, II, Jordan L. Billeaudeau, and Jared E. Billeaudeau. Honorary pallbearers will be Artis J. Davenport, Artis Carlyle Davenport, Julian C. Davenport, Tyler C. Davenport, Lenox Jhace Davenport, Jaymon A. Davenport, Joseph P. Billeaudeau, Jeffrey J. Hebert, Harrison G. Leger, and Allen Gary Meullion.
Visiting hours will be held in the St. Anne Mission Chapel of Frilot Cove on Sunday, March 15, 2015, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday evening at 7:00 pm. On Monday, the visitation will resume in the church beginning at 8:00 am until 10:45 am. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am on Monday in the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in James' name to the Wounded Warriors Project.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Fernando L. Alemany, the staff of the Opelousas General Health System, and LA Hospice and Palliative Care for their wonderful medical care, and Senior Village Nursing Home for their care during his residence with them
