Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for James Ralph Bernard will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Fr. Leger will celebrate the Mass.

Ralph was a resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014, in the Prompt Succor Nursing Home at the age of 80. He worked for St. Landry Bank and Trust Company for over 35 years, and retired as the Vice President of the Loan Department. He loved farming, raising cattle, and tinkering with his tractor. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

He is survived by wife, Joy Delahoussaye Bernard of Opelousas, his children, Barry Bernard of Carencro, Peggy Lastrapes and her husband, Jim of Opelousas, and Cathy Bernard of Opelousas, brother, Charles Bernard and his wife, Lydia of Opelousas, sister, Gloria Hunt of Opelousas, Nina Cormier of Baton Rouge, three grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by parents, Eric and Lois Stanford Bernard.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Wednesday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
A Rosary Service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
