Opelousas- A funeral service for Grant Doucet, age 14, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2015, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Deacon Dwain Joubert will conduct the service.
Grant was a resident of Opelousas, and passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 at his home in Opelousas. Grant was a special child who fought a long, hard battle with cerebral palsy and the effects it had on his life. He is now free from his pain and suffering and walking freely in God's heaven.
Survivors include his parents, Paul and Kelly Doucet of Opelousas and sister, Katie, one niece, Emma Kate, paternal grandmother, Irene Doucet of Opelousas, maternal grandmother, Eleanor O'Hearn of Baton Rouge, aunt, Deborah Johnson of Lafayette, uncle, Drew Doucet of Amite, uncle, Stephen O'Hearn of Mobile, uncle, Shawn O'Hearn of Baton Rouge, two special cousins, Diane Hull and Cynthia Martin both of Opelousas.
Preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Frank "Mick" O'Hearn and paternal grandfather, Jerry Doucet.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, January 26, 2015, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
A special thanks to his two nurses, Priscilla Duplechain and Laura Guilbeau, who cared for him and loved him over the past few years. And to all the nurses who came into his life prior to that we thank you.
