Ivy Carriere

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for Ivy Lou Carriere age 81, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Msgr. Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Ivy Lou Carriere. She died peacefully at her home on October 30, 2014, following a long illness. She taught us all about courage and strength. She worked as a Senior Switch Board Operator at the State Department of Welfare. She was a member of the Pink Ladys volunteer group at Opelousas General Hospital, and the Opelousas Welfare Office Retirees Group. She loved to crochet and cross stitch and to spend time with family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Joseph Donald Carriere and his wife Sheryl, Nathan Carriere and his wife, Donna and Johnny Carriere and his wife, Janice all of Opelousas, her brothers, Allen, Harris, Leland, Newton, and Nolan Guidry, her sister, Dorita Chambliss, her grandchildren, Mechelle, Sammy, Donnie, Kelli, Buddy, Loren, Rebecca, Krisi, Johnny, and Derrick and eighteen greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Carriere, Sr., her parents, Ophie and Bertha Guidry, her siblings, Bernice Arnaud, Alton Guidry, and Paola Huval.

Pallbearers will be Nolan Guidry, Sammy Carriere, Donnie Carriere, Loren Carriere, Johnny Carriere, Jr., and Derrick Carriere.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Monday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

A Rosary Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
