Iva "Tot" Johnson

Opelousas– A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Ms. Iva “Tot” Dale Johnson on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr. Gregory Simien will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Iva, age 80, a native of Opelousas, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette.

Iva was a true caregiver at heart, she enjoyed looking after children and in her later years caring for her elders. She loved playing pokeno and bingo. Iva enjoyed spending time with old friends sharing in a good meal, listening to live music and dancing. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Iva is survived by her sister, Melba Johnson Hargroder; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Iva is preceded in death by her parents, Terrance and Nina Quinity Johnson; brothers, Winford Bossco Johnson, Roland Johnson, and John Johnson; and sister, Mary “Drousie” Johnson Schexnider.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
