Iris Cooley

Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for, Iris Marie Stoute Cooley, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018, in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Monsignor Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Cooley, age 86, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Cooley loved spending time outside working in her garden. She enjoyed playing cards but her passion was prayer! Iris cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

Our matriarch, hero, and guardian angel on earth, now in heaven, she is survived by her children, Dennis Cooley and wife, Elaine; daughter, Gwen St. Cyr and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Nick Trussell and wife, Jenny, Windy Trussell Maitreme and husband, Nathan, Jacob Cooley and wife, Lauren, Micah Cooley and wife, Sarah and Joshua St. Cyr; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Tommy and Claire Trussell, Londyn, Isabella and Caleb Cooley and Lennon Maitreme.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Cooley; parents Dennis Stoute and Helen Stelly Stoute; brother, Albert Stoute and grandson, Blake Montgomery.

The family requests visitation be held on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary Service will be prayed by Deacon Ulysse Joubert at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
