Ida Aunt Ida Hook Andrus
Port Barre Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Hook Andrus, known to many as Aunt Ida, 97, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2007, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Port Barre. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Father Nicky Trahan will conduct the services.
Aunt Ida was a native and long-time resident of Port Barre. She died at 9:55 a.m. in the Opelousas General Health System.
She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother to many. She enjoyed spending time with the family, loved French music and dancing. She was strong willed, very independent, and was a wonderful and outstanding cook. She was also inspirational to all of her family. She will be loved dearly and missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Andrus; her parents: Eli Hook and Olymphe Devillier Hook; her long time companion, Prentis Foster; five brothers: Asa, Sammy, Frank, Eli Jr., and Ivy Hook; and four sisters: Lulu Hook Peck, Angelina Labatut, Eva DeJean, and Irene Broussard.
