Opelousas – A Funeral Service for Hudson Blake Saucier, will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Pastor Benji Richard will conduct the service. Burial will follow at St. Leo Cemetery in Leonville.
Hudson Blake Saucier, a young soul who touched the hearts of everyone, entered into eternal rest at the tender age of 9, on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Born with a genetic condition known as CDKL5, Hudson faced many challenges throughout his life. However, his unwavering spirit brought light into every room he entered.
Hudson was born on June 18, 2014, in Opelousas, LA. Despite his condition, Hudson's affectionate nature shone through. He thrived on being loved and cuddled by those around him, effortlessly drawing people towards him with his irresistible charm. One could often find him listening to music or cartoons. The melodies and animated characters brought him great happiness. Water held a special place in Hudson's heart - being in its embrace brought great tranquility to his soul. Hudson cherished being rocked gently in loving arms, it was an experience that brought both peace and solace to his brave little soul. A gentle touch could calm Hudson more than anything else; having his hair brushed was one such gesture that brought immense contentment to him.
Hudson's legacy serves as a constant reminder to cherish life's simplest pleasures and to embrace one another with unwavering love and compassion. His spirit will continue to inspire us all to face adversity with grace and determination.
Hudson is survived by his father, Adam Saucier; mother, Chelsie Andrus (companion, Kerry Speyrer); brother, Drake Adam Saucier; sister, Ellie Kate Saucier; step-brother, Gabe Speyrer; step-sister, Averi Speyrer; grandmother, Vicky Richard (companion, David Beaugh); grandfather, Charles Ricky Saucier; grandmother, Geneva Saucier; step-grandmother, Mona Speyrer; aunt & godmother, Charli Hazel (Aubrey); aunts, Belinda Wimberly (Byron), Connie Brandon (Brett), Bonnie Andrus and Crystal Godeaux; uncles, Rocky Andrus (Robyn), James Brent Saucier (companion, Brittany Fee); great aunt, Barbie Soileau (Brian); step-aunts, Melanie Speyrer, Katie Smith (Jody), Lindley Speyrer (companion, Beau) and Robin Speyrer; step-uncles, Ethan Beaugh, Austin Beaugh (Lauren); and a host of cousins.
Hudson is preceded in death by his grandfather, Larry James Andrus, Sr.; step-grandfather, Gerald Speyrer; godfather, Donovan Soileau; great-grandparents, Shirley Stoutes, Arthur Guillory, Jimmy & Shirley Saucier, Howard & Mable Richard, Howard and Elsie Andrus.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. Visitation will resume on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Drake Saucier, Aubrey Hazel, Rocky Andrus, Eli Soileau, James Brent Saucier and Jase Soileau.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hudson’s physical therapist, Monica Cooney, for her love and care over the years; as well as the RescYOU Group for their support.
