Howard Anders

Opelousas Funeral services for Mr. Howard Joseph Anders, age 84, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2011, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park.

He was a native of Lebeau, LA, and a resident of Chicago, Illinois. He died on July 23, 2011, at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital in Chicago, Illinois after a long illness. He was a press operator at Meyer Cord Company in Carol Stream, Illinois for 32 years before his retiring.

Howard was christened at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lebeau, LA, on July 21, 1927. He later was baptized at Evangel World Outreach Center under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Ray Allen Berryhill where he served until his health failed him. He was a member of Evangel Assembly of God Church in Chicago, Illinois. He enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing.

He was united in holy matrimony to Lucinda Trent on March 2, 1963. To this union, five children were bornDennis, Sr., Bobby, Alice, Allen, and Steven.

He leaves to cherish his momoryhis loving wife, Lucinda TrentAnders of Chicago four sons: Howard Anders, Jr. of Palmetto Dennis Anders, Sr. and wife, Virginia of Chicago Bobby Anders and wife, Lisa of Melville and Allen Anders and wife, Onichael of Melville one daughter, Alice Denise Anders of Chicago one stepdaughter, Carla Lemon of Beaumont, TX six brothers: Philman Holmes and wife, Doris of Texas City, TX Isaac Andrus and wife, Nevada of Port Arthur, TX Marshall Andrus and wife, Viola of Baton Rouge Nelson Andrus and wife, Ruthie Mae of Opelousas Jules Andrus and wife, Diana of Opelousas and Edward Andrus and wife, Cynthia of Opelousas four sisters: Clara Washington and husband, Clement of Palmetto Edna Gordon and wife, Charles of Lafayette Theresa Johnson and husband, Curtis of Port Arthur, TX and Mary C. Tyler and husband, Terry of Palmetto four sistersinlaw: Rosanna Andrus of Palmetto Geraldine Andrus of Opelousas Lucille Andrus of Opelousas and Doris Hayes of Orange, TX one brotherinlaw, Thomas Rideau of Palmetto 8 grandsons: Christopher, Dennis, Jr., Bobby, Jr., Quinton, Bryon, Elliot, Josh, and Chico 7 granddaughters: Sheba, Britani, Deonca, Christie, Christian, Ashley, and Cortney 1 greatgrandson, Jeremiah Steven two close friends, Rosetta and Dexter Davis of Chicago and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Steven Stevie Anders his parents, Clemont Andrus, Sr. and Comella Winsey Hayes four sisters, Eliza, Lillie B., Margaret, and Wilda and six brothers: Nathan, Peter, Lawrence, Frederick, Clemont, Jr., and Lionel.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Anders, Allen Anders, Howard Anders, Jr., Dennis Anders, Sr., Dennis Anders, Jr., and Christopher Anders. Honorary Pallbearers will be Isaac Andrus, Marshall Andrus, Nelson Andrus, Philman Holmes, Jules Andrus, and Edward Andrus.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, July 31, 2011, from 9 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
