Hilda Montet

OPELOUSAS - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Hilda C. Montet, age 96, on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. The Very Monsignor Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be held in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A rosary will be prayed in church at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Readers will be Steven Chapman and Keith James.

Ms. Montet was known as an excellent cook and a talented seamstress. She always had a positive attitude and looked on the bright side of every situation. Ms. Montet will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Survivors included her sons, Richard E. Montet and wife, Marilyn of Osyka, MS and Robert W. Montet of Bayou Vista, LA; daughters, Phyllis M. Guidry and husband, Mickey of Opelousas and Brenda M. Chapman and husband, John of Corpus Christi, TX; grandchildren, Ann Guidry James and husband, Keith, Lynn Guidry Callegari and husband, Steven, Jeffery M. Guidry, Richard Montet, Jr. and wife, Melissa, Michael Drew Montet and wife, Amy, Ashley Montet Gunter and husband, Jeremy, Steven Chapman and wife, Angelic, Marie Chapman Reyna and husband, Roger. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace J. Montet; parents, Offey and Leona Comeaux and four siblings.

Pallbearers will be Jeffery Guidry, Richard Montet, Jr., Michael Montet, Michael James, Matthew James and Morgan James.
