Our beloved Hester Tweedel Brasseux departed the world on Monday, July 21, 2014 at her daughters home in Opelousas surrounded by her family at the age of 87. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas followed by interment in Bellevue Memorial Park. Rev. Fr. Greg Semien will officiate at the services.
She was born on April 30, 1927 to Nathan and Louise Thibodeaux Tweedel of Church Point, LA. Her husband Elrick Brasseux, son Larry Dale Brasseux, brother Leo Tweedel, sister Leota T. Miller and her parents preceded her in death.
She was an avid gardener with many flowers and vegetables. She loved listening to French music on the radio and watching live music from the Liberty Theatre in Eunice on television. Her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren were the love of her life and she will truly be missed.
Survivors include her twins Charlene B. Miller and her husband Mike and Charles Brasseaux and his wife Paula all of Opelousas her daughterinlaw Sandra S. Brasseux of Ville Platte eight grandchildren, Brian Miller and his wife Tressa, Taryl Brasseaux and his wife Denise, Shawn Brasseaux, Johnny Devillier and his wife Tobi, all of Opelousas Isral Duke of Baton Rouge Rhonda B. Lejeune and her husband Chris and Amanda Foret and her husband Stacey all of Ville Platte and Conrad Devillier and his wife Erin of Grand Prairie.
She is also survived by twelve greatgrandchildren whom she loved dearly, Landon and Hallie Miller, Kamryn and Logan Brasseaux, Trevor and Abigail Devillier, Zachery and Wesley Devillier, Madison and Evan Foret, Mallori St. Martin and Anistin Oxford.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brian Miller, Taryl Brasseaux, Shawn Brasseaux, Isral Duke, Johnny Devillier and her great nephew Randy Brasseux.
The family requests the visitation be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 6:00 PM in the funeral home.
The family wishes to give thanks to all of the doctors and nurses who have cared for her over the last few years.
