Herbert Nezat, Sr.

Port Barre A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Herbert Joseph Nezat, Sr., age 88, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Private Interment will be held in the Bellevue Memorial Park. The Reverend Dan Picard will celebrate the Mass.

Mr. Herbert was a native and long time resident of Port Barre. He died on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, in the TriCommunity Village Nursing Home in Palmetto. He was retired from the State of LA as a Conservationist with over 17 years of service. He was also a U. S. Army Veteran who proudly served his country during WWII. He loved to spend some time with his family and cooking for them. As a hobby, he enjoyed shrimping. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather who will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

Survivors include four sons: Ralph Nezat and wife, June of Port Barre Ricky Nezat and wife, Charlotte of Port Barre Michael Linza Nezat and wife, Bernadine of Port Barre and Herbert J. Nezat, Jr. of Shreveport four daughters: June LeBlanc and husband, Joe Ed of Lottie Harriet N. Nichols of Denham Springs Pauline Nezat of Krotz Springs and Renee Dunbar and husband, Johnny Dunbar, Jr. of Port Barre one daughterinlaw, Dottie Nezat of Opelousas 18 grandchildren and 24 greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mildred Ann Hollinshead Nezat his parents, Rene Nezat and Celeonise Morain Nezat son, Ronnie Nezat brother, Howard Nezat and sister, Irene Wojtasik.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caregivers, Margaret Ledoux and Tammy Schexnayder and close friends of the family, Ernie and Johnnie Dupuis.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in memory of Mr. Herbert to St. Jude Hospital or to the charity of your choice.

The family requests visiting hours are observed on Saturday, January 8, 2011 from 7:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
