Herbert Bourque

Port Barre Funeral services for Herbert E. Bourque, age 81, will be held on Monday, August 22, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Fr. Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.
Herbert was a longtime resident of Port Barre. He passed away on Friday, August 19, 2011 at Opelousas General Health System.
Herbert was a U. S. Army Veteran who served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was an insurance salesman for many years. Then, he worked for the St. Landry Parish Sheriffs Office. Herbert and Juanita owned and operated Bourques Fishermen Inn for 24 yrs. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
He is survived by is children Wayne Bourque and wife Kim of Port Barre and Brenda Collette and husband Ronnie of Baton Rouge granddaughter Angie Ainsworth and husband Kurt of Baton Rouge and grandson Dustin Collette and wife Nikki of Baton Rouge five great grandchildren Kaylyn, Alex, Ryan, and Lucy Ainsworth and Kate Collette three sisters Rose Ryder of Crowley, Margaret Hebert of Ft. Worth, and Janie Bourque of Las Vegas, and one brother Johnny Bourque of Eunice.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Dupre Bourque his parents: Lawrence Bourque and stepmother, Ella Ida Darbonne and stepfather, Ozemie brothers: Roy, Lawrence, Edmond, Frank, and Don Ray Bourque and two sisters: Norma Means and Judy Bourque Ozenne.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Collette, Kurt Ainsworth, Greg Hatcher, Paul Pitre, Jr. Faul, and Bryant Faul.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Sunday, August 21, 2011, from 2 p.m. with an all night wake until Monday morning at 10:30 a.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
