OPELOUSAS– A Graveside Service will be held for Mrs. Helen Sylvester at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Bellevue Memorial Park. Fr. Matthew Higginbotham will conduct the service.
Helen, age 83, a resident of Washington, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at her daughter’s residence surrounded her loving family.
Helen truly cherished spending time with her family. As the family grew, she enjoyed traveling to where they planted their roots to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Helen was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington and a dedicated member of the Ladies Altar Society. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Helen is survived by her sons, Ted Sylvester and wife, Ann, Ronald Sylvester and wife, Amanda, Richard Sylvester and wife, Angie, Michael Sylvester and wife, Stacey; daughters, Susan Christie and husband, Sam Alleman, Sharon Misra and husband, Abhay, Beth Dyson and husband, Harry; brother, Edmond Capello and wife, Delores; sisters, Brenda Comeaux and husband, Johnny, Dorothy Robert and husband, Ronald, Diana Landry and husband, Barry, Betty Leblanc and husband, Louis; sisters-in-law, Catherine Capello and Donna Capello; grandchildren, Amanda Sylvester, Jordan Sylvester, Megan Christie, Emily Christie, Elliott Christie, Jay Misra, Maya Misra, Blake Sylvester, Brett Sylvester, Seth Sylvester, Alyssa Sylvester, Hunter Ponville, Trent Ponville, Cole Sylvester, Sydney Dyson and Isabella Dyson; great-grandchildren, Rylie Sylvester and Harley Sylvester.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Jay” J. Sylvester; son, Nick Sylvester; parents, Joseph and Clodia Capello; sister, Verlyn Leger; brothers, Dale Capello and Albert Capello.
