Helen Hidalgo Jensen

Opelousas- Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Hidalgo Jensen, age 80, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the St. Landry Cemetery in Opelousas.

Father Austin Leger will officiate the services.

Mrs. Helen was a native and long-time resident of Opelousas. She died on Friday, June 26, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Hospital.

She was a bookkeeper for many years and a member of St. Landry Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking for them. She will be sadly missed by all.

Cherishing her memories are her children: Raymond Ray Jensen and wife, Jo Ann; and Ruth J. Metz and husband, C. J. Buddy, all of Baton Rouge; two brothers: Jerry Hidalgo and wife, Wanda of Baton Rouge; and Iris Buster Hidalgo and wife, Donna of Maurepas; one sister, Donnie Hidalgo Simmons and husband, Tommy of Denham Springs; godchild, Charlotte Hidalgo Spencer and husband, Dan of Baton Rouge; 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband, Francis H. Jensen; her parents: Iris Joseph Hidalgo and Camella Corte Hidalgo; one brother, Robert Bobby Hidalgo; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers will be Travis Jensen, Aaron Metz, Adam Metz, Derek Jensen, Dan Spencer, and Tom Doughty.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Rosary service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
