Helen Deranger

Leonville- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Helen Deranger at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020, in the St. Leo The Great Catholic Church in Leonville. Fr. Darren Eldridge will celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Leo The Great Catholic Cemetery.

She passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, February 24, 2020 in her home.

Helen enjoyed her time on the Altar Society of St. Leo. She adored her family and spending time with them.

She is survived by her son, Stanley Leger and wife Angie of Opelousas; her daughters, Carol Leger Hidalgo of Leonville, Ellen L. Noel and husband Lawrence “Boobie” of Opelousas, and Charlene L. Duplechien of Prairie Ronde; grandchildren, Jea Hundley, Blake Hargroder, Ashley Melancon, Lainey Hosen, Ryan Duplechien, Shadd Leger, Colin Hidalgo, Tristan Leger, and Korey Duplechien; twenty four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Azilda Marks Deranger; brothers, Weston Deranger, Jules Deranger, Austin Deranger, Wilfred Deranger, Pierre Deranger and her twin brother Collins Deranger; sisters, Eula Guidroz and Rose Wyble; and sons-in-law, Gary Hidalgo and Michael Duplechien.

Pallbearers will be Blake Hargroder, Ryan Duplechien, Shadd Leger, Jade Maddie, Cain Herpin, Caleb Hundley, and Andrew Herpin.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. Visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday.
