An angel returns to Heaven

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA, for Mrs. Helen Briley Richard. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA. Rev. Father James Brady will celebrate the Mass.

Helen Briley Richard went home to be with her Lord on June 24, 2012. Helen lived on this earth 81 years and enriched the lives of her family and friends. Helen was an extraordinarily kind and generous person whose life made living better for many. She was a loving wife, funloving devoted mother, family matriarch, creative homemaker, genuinely loyal friend, and amazing artist. Helen touched the hearts of everyone she encountered.

She will be greatly missed and held in loving memory by Jim, her husband of 58 years, her 6 children Dale Savoy wife, Nancy, of Gonzales, Greg Savoy of Marrero, Debbie Savoy husband, Dan, of Washington, Randy Richard wife, Donna, of Maurepas, Mitzi Richard Moore husband, Robert, of Lighthouse Point, Florida, and Cindy Richard , of Estes Park, Colorado , 13 grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren, 2 brothers, 4 sisters preceded in death by 2 sisters, and numbers of extended family members and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the family members and friends who so selflessly gave of their time and energy during Helens final stage of life.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. On Wednesday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
