Port Barre Funeral services for Hazel Woodson, age 81, will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Port Barre. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Fr. Daniel Picard will officiate the Mass.
Hazel was also a longtime resident of Port Barre. She died on Monday, March 28, 2011, in the Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas.
Hazel owned and operated her own beauty shop in Port Barre for more than 40 years. She enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful flowers, she most enjoyed baking and cooking. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she will be surely missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Survivors include her children Cheryl Thompson and husband, George of Port Barre, Gary Stoute and wife, Penny of Carencro, Bob Stoute and wife, Enola of Port Barre, and Percy Buddy Stoute and wife, Mercy of Port Barre, nine grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, and a host of step children and step grandchildren, one niece Grace Roy of Port Barre.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Woodson, parents Regis and Arthemise Lagrange Kidder, son Johnny Ray Stoute, sister Ava Leblanc, and great granddaughter, Karen Stoute.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, beginning at 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
A rosary service will be at 7:00 pm. in the funeral home on Tuesday evening.
