Hazel Marie Bright Stoute
Port Barre Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Marie Bright Stoute, age 82, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in the First Baptist Church of Port Barre. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park of Opelousas. Rev. Theron Watson and her grandson, Pastor Jason Parr will conduct the services.
Mrs. Hazel was born in New Orleans, was raised in Ohio, and was a long time resident of Port Barre. She passed away at 3:46 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2008, at her residence.
Mrs. Hazel was a homemaker, a devoted wife of 65 years, and a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great- grandmother, and friend. She was a very talented woman who taught art classes for 8 years at Dejean Art Gallery in Washington, loved to paint, crochet, bake, and sing in the choir. She really enjoyed spending time with family and friends cooking, laughing, and reminiscing the good times. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. Frank H. Stoute of Port Barre; two sons: Frank Wesley Stoute and wife, Beryl of Port Barre; and H. Warren Stoute and wife, Rita of Opelousas; three daughters: Dianne Stoute Parr and husband, Harry of Monticello, GA; Christine Stoute Dugas of Opelousas; Gwendolyn Stoute Dejean and husband, Fred of Alexandria; 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents: John Wesley Bright and Bertha Wilson Bright; one son, Johnny Stoute; and one grandson, Brian Dejean.
Pallbearers will be Frank Stoute, Lukas Stoute, Eric Parr, Jeremy Dugas, Jason Parr, Robert Stoute, and Tom Nichols.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Monday, June 30, 2008, from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. On Tuesday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
A Reflection service will be held on Monday night at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
