Harward Soileau
Opelousas Funeral services for Harward Soilleau will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas.
Father Albert Nunez will celebrate the service, in the chapel, internment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
Harward passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010. He was a native of Ville Platte, but made Opelousas his home for more than 55 years. Cooking was his passion and he shared this love, throughout his life with his family and many friends.
Harward served in World War II and earned several Medal of Honor, one of which was the Bronze Star. While stationed in the Philippines. He later served as a Merchant Marine in the Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Woodmen of the World, and a long standing past member of the Elks Lodge 1040.
He was a beloved husband, grandfather, and dear friend to many. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends. Harward was married to Vivian Leger Soileau until she passed in 1998. Harward is survived by his children, Montie Soileau of Houston, TX, Shelia Corbin, husband Don Corbin of Bossier City, La. and Phyllis Ann Dodson of Katy, TX: his grandchildren, Crystal Corbin, D.J. Corbin, wife Kelly Corbin, Ross Dodson, father Michael Dodson, and beloved friend Ms. Obbie Bordelon.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Saturday, December 18, 2010 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM and will resume on Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 12:00PM until the time of service. A rosary service will be held at 6:30 PM on Saturday, in the funeral home chapel. It is the familys honor to have the following honorary pallbearers Don and D.J. Corbin, Michael and Ross Dodson, and Don and Cary Soileau.
