Harriet Aimee Gay Wartelle
Opelousas- Funeral service for Harriet Aimee Gay Wartelle, 93, will be held at 10:30am in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, followed by interment in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA.
Ms. Wartelle was born in Washington, LA where she graduated from Washington High School
and lived until her marriage in 1938 when she moved to Baton Rouge. She was a homemaker and resident of Baton Rouge until 1981 when she and her husband returned to Washington and lived for the next 10 years. In 1991 Harriet and her husband Willis moved back to Baton Rouge to live with their daughter and her husband until Willis death in 1998. Harriet remained with her daughter until April of 2006 when she moved to St. Clare Manor where she passed away the morning of November 20.
All of her family and friends know she immediately entered the presence of the Lord where He greeted her with Well done thy good and faithful servant. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-gandmother and friend she was a living example of Christ-like servanthoood and will be greatly missed.
Ms. Wartelle is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Margaret Wartelle Winner and Jim Winner of Baton Rouge and her great grandchildren, Courtney Marie Winner and Brooke Nicole Winner; stepgrandchildren and their spouses Tyler and Sue Winner and Tylene and Bruce Ruckstuhl and step great-grandchildren Kristal Ruckstuhl, Becky, Hannah, Matthew and Sarah Winner all of Baton Rouge; her sister-in-law, Adelaide Wartelle of Covington and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Willis Wartelle; parents Willie and Rosa Lucille Quirk Gay; her sister, Lucille Gay Wartelle Stagg and her only grandchild, Lori Gay Agosta.
