Opelousas, La Funeral services for Mr. Harold Louis Lastrapes, Jr.,will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2007, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, La. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Opelousas, La.

Rev. Angelo Cremaldi will conduct the services.

Mr. Lastrapes passed away on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 6:20 p.m. at Opelousas General Health Systems in Opelousas, La. Mr. Lastrapes was a graduate of S.L.I. now known as UL of Lafayette with an Accounting Degree. He then served our wonderful nation during WW II in the US Army. Mr. Lastrapes retired from the Army with the rank of Lt. Colonel. His span of service with the Army was 26 years. Mr. Lastrapes was a very busy and serving man, he and his brother Edward started their own Acounting firm and Investment Co., he worked for the State of Louisiana in the Accounting and Tax Department for several years, he served the City of Opelousas as the Comptroller for many years. Mr. Lastrapes also served his Church as a Lecture and also was a life time member of the Elks Club Lodge 1048 of Opelousas, La.

The greatest pleasures of Mr. Lastrapes life was his family. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. His many friends would tell you that he was a true friend to those that knew him. His other pleasures were a good Bar-B-Que with family and friends watching the Saints Football team play, even though they would upset him at how they played, and playing Golf. Mr. Lastrapes was a lifetime member of the Indian Hills Country Club in Opelousas. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include his sons, Dr. Richard Lastrapes and wife Deborah of Opelousas, Kim Lastrapes and wife Denise of Opelousas; daughter, Nancy Franks and husband Allen of Opelousas; brother, Edward W. Lastrapes and wife Gloria of Opelousas; sister, Alice Carlin of Lafayette, La. and his grandchildren, Lainey Lastrapes Boss and husband Bo Michael of Cankton, Libby Lastrapes, Mallory Lastrapes, Madelyn Lastrapes, Molly Lastrapes, Caroline Franks and Benjamin Franks.

Mr. Lastrapes was preceded in death by his wonderful wife, Genevieve Lastrapes, parents, Harold L. and Marie H. Comeaux Lastrapes, Sr.; sisters, Betty Lastrapes and Frances Mistrot.

Visiting hours will be observed on Sunday, December 9, 2007 beginning at 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and reopening on Monday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be recited on Sunday Night at 6:30 p.m.
