Gustave Bill Moreau
OPELOUSAS Funeral services for Mr. Gustave Joseph Bill Moreau, 84, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2006, in St. Landry Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial and interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Msgr. Romero will conduct the services.
Mr. Moreau was a long time resident of Opelousas and died at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2006, at his residence. He was a native of Mallet, which is a small community near Lawtell and was well known to many as Bill.
Mr. Moreau served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He was retired from Lou Ana after 39 years of service. One of his favorite things to do was to deep fry turkeys or other foods and shared it with friends. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, culinary expert, wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He brought great joy to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
He leaves to mourn his loss, yet cherish every memory, his loving wife of 59 years, Mrs. Birdie Sibille Moreau of Opelousas; one son, Brett Moreau and wife, Myra of Lafayette; one sister, Rela LaFleur of Opelousas; and two grandchildren: Shelly Faye Moreau and Logan Jude Moreau, both of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Cora Dupre Moreau; and his brother, Rodney Moreau.
Visiting hours will be observed on Sunday, October 8, 2006, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Monday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.
