Port Barre A Mass of Christian Burial Service for Gussie O. Guidry will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2014, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum at a later date. Rev. Father Daniel Picard will be the Celebrant of the Mass of Christian Burial.
Gussie was a native of Arnaudville and long time resident of Port Barre he passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Opelousas General Health System. Gussie was a truck driver by trade, hauling grain. Gussie raised and trained race horses and was proud of each one of them. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends drinking coffee and having cookouts. He is going to be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Survivors include his sister, Shirley Guillory and husband Teurling of Port Barre nieces, Brenda Myers and husband Mike, Melissa Guidry, Lisa Speyrer and husband Kyle, Tammy Theriot nephews, James Rae Guidry, Richard Guidry, Mike Guidry and wife Denise, Mark Guidry, Scott Zeringue and wife Nicole nephewinlaw Charles Mistric.

Gussie was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Elmire Guidroz Guidry, Sr. siblings, Arthur Guidry, Jr., Russell Guidry, Florence Zerangue and niece Charline Guillory Mistric.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Sunday, November 16, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Monday, visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Gussies family would like to thank Ms. Barbara Ansley for the wonderful care given to Gussie during his time of sickness.
