PORT BARRE- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Ms. Gurcie Arnaud Badeaux at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Brian Taylor will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Ms. Gurcie, age 87, a resident of Port Barre, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Ms. Gurcie a native of Arnaudville, she attended Arnaudville High School, where she was named Valedictorian of her graduating class; an honor she forever treasured. Ms. Gurcie went onto become the co-founder of Garland-Gurcie’s Western Wear in Port Barre. She was a devout Catholic and dedicated parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Ms. Gurcie enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to her flower beds; but most of all she cherished time spent with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Badeaux Maddie (Dannie); sons, Karl Badeaux (Dorothy), Gordon Badeaux (Susan) and Brent Badeaux (Richelle); grandchildren, Danielle, Caitlin and Derian Maddie, Brittany Balius (Don), Hope Lanclos (Troy), Albert Artigue (Erica), Adam Badeaux (Deborah), Elizabeth Goolsby (Will), Victoria Rea (Alex), Bryce Badeaux, Branton Badeaux (Megan), Bevan Badeaux; great-grandchildren, Taylor Gallick, Greyson and Amelia Balius, Tanner and Kylie Lanclos, Gabbie and Kaden Artigue, Kynleigh Badeaux , Abbigail, Ella and Grace Goolsby, Hailey Badeaux, Elliot Rea; great-great-granddaughter, Paisley Meche; sisters, Alzire Schexnayder and Hilda Higginbotham.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gussie Arnaud and Ezola Dugas Arnaud; the father of her children, Garland Badeaux; sisters, Lilly Rensland, Betty Tubre and Shirley Callendret; brothers, Felix Arnaud, Phillip Arnaud, Enia Arnaud, Wilson Arnaud, Moise Arnaud, Harry Arnaud and Nealy Arnaud.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre. The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. by Mrs. Johnny "BooBoo" Soileau. Visitation will resume on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Adam Badeaux, Albert Artigue, Bryce Badeaux, Branton Badeaux, Bevan Badeaux and Derian Maddie. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons, Tanner Lanclos and Kaden Artigue.
