Gregory Dean

We regret to announce the death of our beloved Gregory Bryan Dean, who died at his residence in Carencro on September 24, 2012. Born on February 8, 1956, he is survived by, and his memories cherished by, his devoted wife of 37 years, Tina Trouille Dean. As a father, he was lovingly involved in the lives of his three children, Joshua Dean of Broussard, Sara Dean of New Orleans, and Rachael Dean of Carencro who have lost their proudest supporter. His precious granddaughter, the apple of his eye, Olivia Dean of Carencro also mourns his death.
As a baby of a large family, his surviving siblings are Frank E. Dean, Jr. Susie, Donald B. Dean Monette, William H. Dean Jane, G. Douglas Dean Tina, Betty D. Rozas Nicky, and James W. Dean Pokie.
Known to his many friends as Goomus, his allegiance is staunch and he loved them all.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank E. and Dorothy P. Dean.
A graduate of OCHS 1974, Greg attended LSUE and USL where he graduated cum laude in business administration in 1978. He was a graduate of the Paul M. Hebert law school of LSU with a jurist doctorate in 1981. He was a parishioner of St. Peters Catholic Church in Carencro, and also served as an usher at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette. Greg was elected to the Lafayette Democratic Executive Committee in 2009. He was past President of St. Leo Seton school board. In the past, he had also assisted as a legal advisor for Teurlings Catholic High School.
Greg was a practicing attorney in the state of Louisiana from 1981 until present.
Respecting Gregs wishes as Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington will be officiating the services. Following the service, a family gathering will continue until 10:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
